Whats considered a high temperature for the NB chip?

When idle, both Speedfan and my temperature sensor attached to the chip give me negative temperatures (its endothermic! Go figure!) and when fully loaded for 30 minutes-ish it reads +6. Anything to worry about?

Cheers

Kenny

Put it this way, some need a fan, some dont. The ones that don't need fans can obviously take higher than room temperature temperatures, and room temperature, unless you live in antarctica, should be more than 20...

You have nothing to worry about, +6 is COLD!

I'd say that if your computer works, why worry about any temperatures or readings. I'd only wory if it kept crashing or whatever.

Damn i don't even know what temp my n/b runs at, or even if i can find that out!

Hey there was a good proggy on Ch4 at 9... Sorry a bit OT

Frying an egg is normal ... now if you do a whole side of beef then I want the crackling.

North Bridge chips and fans make me laugh ... however; I never could understand why, in the past, they were never fitted with a HSF.

Going back to the days of 386 and some 486 CPUs that were also run with no HSF I can only assume that the modern PC now is at a stage where, either for looks or heat, one is required.

I don't know what mine is, and I'm really not too worried. No "monitoring" device a motherboard manufacturer can build (a thermal couple) will give you an accurate reading ... the only reason to "monitor" the temps is if you do happen to see a BIG rise in temps ... by that time it may well be too late.

;)

Just want to make sure... I may skip the option of watercooling it.... :-p

Although, I can overclock further when i up my Chipset voltage...

what a great programe eh?
for those of u that didnt see the programe allow me to explain:

a bloke from American in 1984, was involved in a car accident in 1984.
he was 19 at the time. since 1984 he was in a coma. doctors wiped out any chances of him becoming concious

after 19 years yes NINETEEN years, in 2003 he gained conciousness at his home with his mum. he cant move properly. his mind is set to 1984 accordin to him the president of the usa is Ronald Reagon! he is unable to recognise his daughter now 19 yo!
he thinks he is still 19 years old, he dont know he is really 40! he thinks he can walk and leading a normal life

the dude was asleep for 20 years! his whole youthful life spent asleep
i was shocked at what i saw!

really shocking, yet another case where the doctors and medics are wrong!
it took 20 years to prove them wrong, but it can happen there is a LIGHT at the end of the channel.

what a poor chap.

i found this story very amazing i do like to sleep but sleeping for 19 years would be too much
god bless this man, i hope he gets better!

sorry i know its off this thread subject but u tempted me Chris!

Sorry Mrs Muckshifter, my apologies.

I must confess this story has deeply touched me, I just felt like sharing my thoughts as Chris's post inspired me!

If it is any conselation, I can assure you that there is much much more to the story than what you have read about my description. Enjoy your viewing.

I tend to agree with Mucks.

Northbridge cooling is overrated and designer Northbridge coolers, imo, are aimed at those with more money than sense.

The Motherboard manufacturer will supply good enough cooling for a Northbridge chip, usually, be it passive or active.

My DFI board has a large aluminium passive heatsink on the Nforce 2 NB chipset, it barely gets warm at all.
