Nortel Unified Messaging

I have both of these programs installed on a few desktops. If Outlook is not
started the message notification works on the phone. If Outlook is started,
it automatically marks the phone messages as read and then there are no
notifications when you have a new voice mail. Has anyone had this problem
and if so, is there a workaround? Both programs are necessary but only if
they are working properly.

Stacey,

Your question has nothing to do with BCM. Please post in
microsoft.public.outlook instead, and more than likely you'll have to talk
to Nortel about this. Unified messaging is supposed to notify you once. It
sounds like Outlook is setup to automatically mark certain messages as read.

The way CallPilot Desktop Messaging works is that the when a phone message is
received, the red message light on the phone lights up and the message also
goes to the CallPilot Desktop Messaging inbox. When Business Contact manager
is installed and activated and Outlook is open, the message still goes to my
phone and my phone message inbox but the indicator light does not work on my
phone and the message is automatically marked as read so there are no
notifications of a new message. If Outlook is not open, my message light
works on my phone. If I uninstall Business Contact Manager or just unlink
the database from Outlook it works fine which makes me think they are working
against each other.

It's probably the e-mail autolink feature that is causing this. Try to
disable it and see what happens.

Microsoft reads these groups, so your report will catch their attention
sooner or later.
