Dear Sir/Madam:

Lately, when I create a Words document and same it. A new
ican appears on my destop, "Normal.dod". When I re-open
the document and close it without any changes, it asks me
to save it. It then creates a new Icon on my desktop.

How do I get rid of it?

Thank you,
HAROLD GORDON

When you open a new word document you are looking at a blank page. This is actually a template called "Normal.dot".
Word can act screwy sometimes if it starts using another "Normal.dot" other than the original one that was installed with Word.
Try searching your computer for ALL "Normal.dot" files and rename them to "Normal2.dot".

Word will then have to create a new "Normal.dot" with all of the default settings that were there when Word was originally installed.

If all works well, just delete all of the "Normal2.dot" files.

Don't delete the renamed Normal.dot unless you have no customizations
(styles, macros, AutoText, toolbars) you want to retrieve using the
Organizer.
