Non-working shortcut

Out of the blue, the shortcut to Internet Explorer quit
working on my son's user account. The hourglass appears
very briefly, then disappears and IE never loads.
Furthermore, the same thing happens if I double click on
iexplorer.exe in Windows Explorer, or try to get it going
with "Run..."

I'm the one other user profile on the computer, but mine
works fine.

Running XP Pro with all current updates. He recently
renamed his user name, but says IE was still working after
he did that.

Any help?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
