My PC does not recognize the hard drive. Went into BIOS
and only see the CD-ROM and floppy. Put in new hard
drive and still get same error. Any ideas?

Is this happening with a new hard drive or is it one that has worked in the
past?

Some old BIOS versions won't detect a hard drive if the disk size is greater
than 32GB. (Especially true of Award 4.51 PG Bios). If this is your case,
let the group know as there are several solutions.

And you did connect pin 1 of the ribbon cable (with the colored end)
onto pin 1 of the header on the motherboard/controller for the IDE port
and also connect pin 1 of the ribbon cable to pin 1 of the hard drive
(i.e., all pin 1's are connected), right?

Do you hear the hard drives spin up and start clicking when you power
up?
