Is there really no way to get a non-plug and play vga
adapter to work with an XP machine. It worked perfectly
on a win2k machine.

It's an old AVED technologies LCD controller. I have a
15.0" passive LCD that works with the VGA board. Of
course AVED seems to be out of business.

Any suggestions?

There is a generic VGA driver in XP. It only does the minimum resolutions
and does not show up in Device Manager, without checking on "Show hidden
devices..."

I couldn't find the Generic VGA adapter but I did find
that Chips and Technologies, once owned by intel, is now
Asiliant Technologies (www.asiliant.com) and they had an
xp driver for the chipset 65550. However now I am having
a specific problem getting the LCD to run. The board
seems to be stuck in CRT mode and I can't get it to LCD
only or Both.

I will try Asiliant.

Thanks
