Non-Modal Forms

I have these forms that are going to be displayed and require the user to
respond to the options on the form but there is not specific time that user
will make the chooses on the form. What is the best way to handle this
situation. Create events and raise the event when the user makes the choose
or is there a better way to discover what the user selected. Variables?

Hi Jerry,

In my opinion, the best way to handle the situation you described is to use
event, as you have mentioned.

Let's say that we have two forms, called form1 and form2. We open form2
from form1. form2 has some options for the user to select.

We add an event in form2 and subscribe this event in form1 when we open it
from form1.

When the user makes the choose in form2, form2 raises the event and then
form1 gets informed.

Linda, that's what I was thinking. Since I'm working i a manufacturing
environment and I have several pieces of equiment running on this software I
can't display a modal form like a message box and stop equipment from
processing.

Events seemed like the best solution but had not used forms in this manner
before.
