I have recently purchased a 'non genuine' copy of XP Pro. +SP2. I did not
find this out untill I installed it. I have now purchased a GENUINE copy of
same, but cannot uninstall the 'non genuine' copy in order to install the
other. Any help on this would be greatfully appreciated.

How do you know it's not genuine?

Go into the BIOS and set your computer to boot from the CDROM/DVDROM
first. Put the XP CD in the CD/DVD ROM. Exit and save the BIOS. Follow
the directions to format and partition and then install XP.

Just do a clean install with your new genuine installation disk. Here
are instructions:

Just how was it known that this version of Windows XP Pro was
not genuine? Just because it did not automatically activate? Got
confirmation by trying the telephone activation route? But, of
course, if one went out of the way to get a counterfeit copy or
a true fake, then carry on.

I have tried this numerous times. It gets as far as the 'Windows Setup Page' and stops. Anything further that you can add?
