The beta versions are somewhat frequent, it seems.. I would
suggest that any evaluation/nomination should be based on stable
versions. I tried to download a previous beta but the system
simply hung..

It's not *that* frequent. ;-) For the last year I had only very minor
problems. But there are still about 50 more or less severe and about a
further 150 minor bug reports on the line. Feature requests count in
the hundreds. ;-)
Marcus always said he will release the first non-Beta when there are
no more (major) Bugs open for some time. A few days ago he wrote in
<de.comm.software.40tude-dialog> Dialog would be final for months if
he would only consider his own needs. Same goes for me and other.
Many 'final' programs recommended here are more buggy, *by far*.
