Hi. Digging around in the company server room I found a Nokia IP120
box, which used to run FreeBSD and Checkpoint FW-1/VPN-1 until the
harddrive failed. We no longer have a need for this box, so I thought
I'd take on a little hobby project.

Now, the Nokia IP120 is an x86 compatable PC, but does not have
keyboard or mouse input or video output.

Would it be possible to configure an embedded image which would run
without keyboard, mouse or video but could still run a desktop which is
accessible via Remote Desktop?

The reason for this is that I want to get and XP based OS up and
running on this box so that it can run HomeSeer to manage my home
automation project.

The short answer: Yes

XPE images can be headless but still administered remotely. However, on a
more practical note - I'm not positive I'd run a home system on an eval XPE
simply due to the image timing out from no PID. If you don't mind putting a
new image on once every few months and will continue to play/tweak the image
then it can work. For my system at home, once I have it working I just like
to leave it alone so the wife doesn't kill me. :-)

Thanks for taking the time to respond. The licensing cost is obviously
an issue due to the fact that it'd be cheaper to buy an old PC and just
install Windows XP Professional, but wheres the fun in that hey :-)
