Noise with my PC Problem??

Hello,

It tricky to describe this problem but here goes. Since I reinstalled my PC
about two months ago I have noticed that if my system resources are at say
"77%" and I click on something like my PC dukebox then my PC will freeze for
about 3 seconds and at the same time something inside my PC starts to make a
louder sound. It makes a sort of clicking sound, then something gets louder
but then it works fine. It's a bit like when you type in your web-browser
with a cd in your cd-rom drive and it starts to spin but it can't possibly
be that.

I never had this problem before I reinstalled my PC, a friend of mine did
however change some things in the bios - could this have effected it?

Could it be that all the memory gets used up at around 77% and the OS
needs to swap to disk when you move the mouse? Does it sound like it
could be the hard disk?

Yes it very well could be that, is it supposed to do this? Am I running low
on memory?

My Specs:

2700mhz AMD Athlon
512 DDR 333
120gb SATA
