Pretty much, yes, as long as you don't enable NOD's on-access scanner (AMON)
unless you first disable Norton's.

If all you want is a second opinion by scanning the harddisk once in a while
though, I would recommend an online scanner instead.

While I don't think the NOD people offer one, other excellent products do. Like

Kaspersky
(http://www.kaspersky.com/service?chapter=161739400#betatest)

BitDefender
(http://www.bitdefender.com/scan-online/ie.html)

Panda
(http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm)

to name a few.

OK to have both but don't have them both doing realtime scanning
otherwise it'll bring the computer to a crawl.

You would think Norton works fine until you try NOD 32 for a while.
NOD is so much better its in an entirely different league.

Why not do a disk image - uninstall Norton then install NOD 32 for a
few days to try it. You can recover Norton from the image should you
wish to. I would not like to try running NOD & Norton at the same time
I don't see the point. You can't evaluate NOD if you have to disable
parts of it.

Uninstall NAV, first.

Once you've tried NOD32 you'll probably never go back to Norton. You can
have both of them installed but disable NAV's checking of startup files
on boot and starting automatically.

Go in the NAV control panel settings and uncheck anything that runs
automatically. You will still be able to use NAV as an On Demand scanner
for a back up to NOD32 but close NOD32 when you run another AV program.

I would consider uninstalling NAV - I picked up over 400MB on the last
system them I cleaned up. You can get one of the free AV programs to use
as an On Demand scanner as a backup to NOD32.

Chas.
