I've installed Nod32 on at least 2 dozen computer and haven't had any
problems until this one. Has me completely baffled. This computer
had WinXP, SP1 and all security updates installed. It had (before I
installed SP1, and the updates), NAV2002, which was uninstalled before
any updates. This computer was an HP 2.66GHZ, beats me which model.
After install, went to the net to update the program. Dialup
connection (and we all know how painful that can be!), and it would
"connect" to the net, but wouldn't connect to ANY website. Fiddled
around and no matter what, it would not connect to anything. Popped
open a cmd prompt, and was able to ping the ISP's DNS, but couldn't
ping any website, or any IP address other than the ISP's DNS. I
uninstalled NOD32, and reconnected to the net and vola! The net
was back. Reinstalled Nod32 and no internet. Went into Nod32's
settings where it "can repair network connections" and even after the
reboot, NO internet. Once again, I could ping the DNS of the ISP, but
that was it. If I turned off Nod32's IMON feature, the internet was
restored. So I went ahead and let Nod32 update itself, which was a
painful 30 minutes later, since this computer, on dialup was out in
the middle of BFE, and only would connect at 26.4k! Even after the
update, and reboot, if the IMON was enabled, it would not connect.
So, in frustration, I uninstalled Nod32, installed Kaspersky antivirus
and it didn't have any problems connecting to the internet, or
anything.
Sorry for being long winded, but had to show what I have done to fix
the problem so anyone wouldn't waste their time responding to
something I hadn't tried. Anyone have any ideas??
TIA!
