What does DMON do that AMON doesn't?

I read the FAQs and they seem to say you really don't need DMON as
long as you're running AMON.

"Since DMON is only a complementary add-on to AMON, you don't
necessarily need to have it enabled if you use AMON as the on-
access scanner."

Correct. IMON and AMON are the only modules you would need to run,
assuming you think you need to have resident protection. If you're
really concerned about online security and feel a strong need for online
protection, check out Online Armor. Do a google. I've never tried it
myself; may do so if I get bored. It does sound interesting, however.

Thanks a lot for all your help.

You are quite right about memory usage not being the issue. My
whole system is definitely faster than it was with NAV or with
Avast (faster than NAV but not nearly as fast as NOD).

I just purchased and installed NOD32 (had been using a trial
version). I feel really comfortable with it.

The difference is in the engine - or as they refer to it 'most
important parts' of NOD32 are coded in asm. I will route out those
performance benchmarks. It was astounding to say the least. Would
almost make people like Art Kopp adopt the idea of On-Access scanners
purely because of its transparancy and minimalistic impact on system
performance.

I renewd yesterday. I will do the same next year unless ESET do a
Symantec on things which is unlikely!
