NOD AV new version - still need anti-spyware program?

I just upgraded, free, to the new NOD AV which calls itself
an anti-virus and anti-spyware program. Under setup it says
clearly "antivirus and antispyware protection". It also
says this on the picture of the box cover on the Eset website.

I have an NAT router.

Do I still need to run/use a separate antispyware program?
If so, which one, and do I need to keep realtime protection on?

I'm also running the latest version of NOD32 and have a NAT router
too.

I like to use a firewall in addition to having a router, currently I'm
using Kerio 2.1.5.

Each morning I check if updates are available for the following:

Ad-Aware 2007
Spybot - Search & Destroy
Spyware Terminator
SpywareBlaster

Then I allow the first 3 to run a scan.
They seldom find anything so I close them when the scans are finished
and I don't feel that I need to have any realtime protection running.

Thanks - I finally removed kerio from my system because it
kept asking questions and after a while I'd allowed so much,
it clearly wasn't working. Decided to live with safe hex
and the router and NOD.

I too run some of the above periodically and it is the
realtime protection I'm questioning. I think I'll go
without it but be more diligent about running the
anti-spyware programs regularly.

Maybe you could have a look at this firewall:
- Online Armor Free

I used ZoneAlarm and Comodo, but I prefer this one.

And do you think it might be worth getting the full pay one
if the free one seems ok or is that unnecessary?

I just installed the free edition - thought I'd start there.
So far, so good - everything seems to be running and it
was easy to allow and disallow.

Are there special settings I should be aware of?

(as you know by now)

The Free version is a simple, straightforward firewall.
For me it is sufficient.

- Options Firewall
- unselect "Show firewall activity ..."
- unselect "Notify me when ...."

Thanks so much for recommending the Armor Online Free
firewall. It really works - is low on resources and speaks
to you in comprehensible language when it poses a question.
And it's free!

I've put it on my desktop and my portable without a single
problem.
