Im hearing rave revues on this programm so is it the bees knees i wonder?

With regards to proactive detection of new viruses by heuristics, its
small resource footprint and overall stability - yes, it performs very
well in these areas. With regards to combined detection of virus,
worm, trojan, adware etc. not as good as the likes of say - Kaspersky.

Since May 1998, NOD32 has been the only antivirus product in the world that
has not missed a single (ItW) worm or virus in the rigorous testing
conducted by the Virus Bulletin. This time the Virus Bulletin re-tested the
Windows 2003 Server platform.

Since the last time the Virus Bulletin tested this platform, close to 90 new
worms were added to the "In the Wild" (ItW) category. Once again, NOD32 won
the 100% Award for detection of all (ItW) worms and viruses while getting no
false positives.

Correct - but ITW malware is not the only malware to take into
consideration.

It does its job. I have not had any problems with it. They seem to be
improving the product each year.

I hope they will not "improve" it in the way that Symantec has
continually "improved" Norton Antivirus. That is the route to bloat,
complications and malfunctions.

It missed two Trojans on my system that Kaspersky detected. Kaspersky is the
best Antivirus to detect Trojans. I did like NOD32 for virus and worm
detection. I went with Kaspersky for over all protection.

agreed - but Kasperskys presence is not very transparent - this is due
to the resource requirements. It's a lot better than that offered from
Symantec and Norton though.

I am also an ex user of NOD32 - very low on resources and good overall
detection. Switched to Kaspersky and it found 4 Trojans.

I'm willing to a AV program that uses more resources as long as it provides
better all round protection.

Correct. I just installed Norton 2005 and it takes forever to boot my
computer now. I keep updating thinking they will see the problem and fix it
but...............................still waiting.

Only time will tell. So far I am pleased with NOD32 and what the product
does todate.

Me too, had it now for five years after throwing away the useless Norton
rubbish that just screwed up my system.

There is a new Kaspersky security suite out in beta which has Kaspersky
Antivirus version 6 with it and there is a lot people testing it out and the
are saying it uses a lot less resources. We will have to wait until the
stand alone version 6 comes out. Here is the forum where they are discussing
it.

I couldn't load it on my laptop (P-IV 2.6GHz). The system comes up, then
as soon as I start doing anything, stops responding. Didn't want to
figure it out, just removed the nod32 (life's too short)

Any ideas what might be wrong? I am suspecting it might be conflicting
somehow with ZoneAlarm.

I use Nod32 and like it very much and run ZA Pro and it doesn't cause
any problems.

I doubt it was zone alarm. Perhaps some other corruption in your
system.
