Installed new C, M, Y cartridges but the Yellow is not printing. When I
clean, it uses up ALL inks. The KCM are OK.
Is there a way that I can only do the cleaning on the Yellow cartridge and
not to use up the others which are OK?
Thanks,

Sorry Nathan but no.
The cleaning cycles use all inks.
Even the SSC utilty which claims to do seperate Black and Colour cleaning
cycles does not succesfully do this with all printers I have discovered.

I read a few weeks ago from someone writing about this issue that
sometimes the valve in the cartridge gets stuck. The writer suggested taking
the cartridge out of the printer, and using a straightened paperclip over
newspaper, push the paperclip into the valve in the cartridge a couple of
times and then return the cartridge to the printer.

In response- Nathan wrote me that it worked. I think I was as pleased as
he was.

Just for clarification, are we to 'push' the newspaper into the valve with
the clip, i.e., is the paper over the clip?

You place the newspaper on your working surface to avoid spillage on
furniture and divorce.

(I gave the original tip a couple of weks ago)

The problems with loss of one or more color on these C and CX printers
is so commonplace, I am directing information and manuals by the dozens
to owners with this problem. There are numerous causes from sticky
cartridges, to air locks to clogged cleaning stations.

The cleaning manual I distribute has a number of suggestions to clear
these problems.

Get it at:

BTW, this is probably not a stuck valve as much as an air lock and the
ink gets flowing a bit into the ink cartridge outlet and that in turn
starts the ink flow to the ink nipple, besides keeping it from reclogging.

"Still" ?

This is a self help forum for the most part. If you want to take the printer
to get it repaired without doing anything yourself you might consider
looking for printer repair in the telephone book.

or if you're inclined, then...

When did the yellow stop printing and were there any red lights blinking or
solid?
What have you attempted to do to get the yellow printing?

If my manual's instructions are followed and you still cannot get the
head functional, believe me it is unlikely a repair depot will suggest
anything less than head replacement, which isn't cheap.

What ink are you using? Some inks are not compatible with one another
or the cleaning fluids I recommend, which is why I supply specific
instructions on how to test the ink with the cleaning liquid.
