No *.xls selection to import

User has Access 2003 with no service packs applied

When he uses the Import Wizard or uses Get External Data, when he wants to
change to Excel to import, his only selections are *.xml and *.xsd. If I'm
not wrong, those are 2007 formats. We tried to manually change the filter to
find *.xls but nothing happened, as in we are not allowed to import that
format.

How to we import Excel 2003 or 2002 files in *.xls format?

Those are not 2007 formats, they are xml formats. Does the user have Excel
installed?

Yes, he has the entire Office 2003 suite installed.

Then perhaps on the install the default was choosen? Sounds like some
drivers are missing.
