I have two machines, a desktop & a laptop running Win XP
Professional.
The desktop recently stopped booting up & I reinstalled
win xp from the original discs.
Win XP now runs fine but I can not access the desktop
from the laptop and visa versa (connected thru a Hub)
I use a fixed IP address on both computers and access the
internet thru a broadband connection which works fine.
On the laptop when I enter the workgroup I can only see
the laptop.
When I do the same on the desktop there are no computers
even though the workgroup name is correct & I log on
sucsessfully.
I am also able to ping the IP addresses from the other
computers.
Any ideas?
