No Windows Updates

Updates will not install because of the pop-up :The
software you are installing, etc". When I click OK on the
pop-up I'm assured they are installed but I haven't had a
successful update since mid December. I know it has
something to do with a system catroot32, etc, but I am at
a loss to figure out how to fix the problem. Could
someone walk this old fart through the process? Any and
all help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Wayne,

If you are thinking it is related to the known issue with catroot2, simply
right-click that folder under C:\Winodws\system32 and rename it.

Otherwise, please locate the WindowsUpdate.log file under \Windows or
\Winnt. Open it and scroll to the bottom. Look at the error codes and
compare them against this site:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
