So whenever windows update was on it would periodically use 100 percent of my CPU power. Normally, this is just an inconvenience but my laptop has problems overheating and will crash if anything hogs all of the CPU for a long time, so I disabled Windows Update. My question is if I should ever have to worry about this? I don't intend to ever turn Windows Update on again, but will this be a problem like exposing me to viruses, and security risks?

Thanks

Updates are critical if you want your lptops to perform at their intended best..I suggest sorting out your over heating problems first..
