No way to open file

When I try to open one of my most important files, I get the error message...
The instruction at "0x300a5f1d" referenced memory at "0x058a6cd4". The
memory could not be "read".
.... and then excel is terminated. I have worked weeks on this file and do
not have a backup. Bummer!
 
There are recovery options in Excel XP and 2003 that may help, or depending
on filesize you are welcome to mail me the file and I will try to recover it
for you. You need to take the NOSPAM out of my email addy
