No warning when shutting down and users are sharing my files

When my wife is working on her Win98 PC sharing files on my Windows XP
PC, I get no warning when I shut down my PC - apart from abuse when
she can't save her documents!! Win98 gave me a message telling me that
files were open.

How can I do the same thing in XP - ie receive a warning message that
users are sharing my files?

Thanks

If you are both in the same building why not tell her you
are shutting down computer. Of course this does not work
if your computer shuts down without warning!

Thanks, Earl. Yes, I could do that. However, if I install XP in an
office, I don't expect users to phone each other when rebooting and I
don't really expect them to have to run the computer management tool.

is there no way to get this warning message back??

Use net send if the messenger service is running. Open a command prompt and type
net send /? for more details.
