Hello:
My monitor is showing a black screen. I have disconnected
all drives, cables, etc from the motherboard except for
the video card. At this point I think I should see the
bios screen when I boot up. The processor and case fan
are running. The problem should be in the MB, processor,
video card or power supply? Is there some way to isolate
the problem. This is an older Pentium II, Shuttle MB,
Diamond video card, Sparkle PS.
Thank you,
Don

I would either try the monitor with another computer or another monitor
with a the computer. This will tell you where the problem is easier than
working with the hardware.

Are you sure it's not the monitor?

Next steps would be to swap out the video card, processor, memory, power
supply. If none of those do the trick, it's the motherboard.

Needless to say, you don't want to buy all to do diagnostics. You could take
it to a shop for a checkup, or if you have spare parts, or a friend that has
them, start swapping.

I did try monitor with another PC and it is ok. I will
have to try the parts swapping next with some friends.
Thank you for your suggestions.
