Have a D845GLVA board and not getting any video, has on board video, please advise.

It is turning on, but doesnt seem to do muc more...

Thanks

It does seem to start up, but then red light comes on, never projects image on screen, tried two monitors

More info please!

Who's the maker of the PC or is it a DIY job?
What are the system specs & Operating System etc?

Alright, wild guess here, your motherboard's shot.

Or it could be:

memory
CPU
PSU
Monitor cable

Do you get one beep from the system when it goes through the POST sequence? (Boots).

Tried different monitor cable.

I am quite sure it doesnt beep, but does appear to be 'booting' but then red light appears

if it is memory is it a case of replacing it?

How would psu stop video from being displayed when the board is getting power?

The PSU has several voltages, not just one. If one rail has failed, whole system may show some signs of life but not all of it will work.

Without substituting known good working parts such as memory, CPU & PSU, I'd gamble and say the whole system (motherboard/CPU/memory)needs replacing. And if it's an older system you'll need a suitable new PSU as well.

I can't confirm that of course but I don't think it's worth spending money on individual new parts without proving existing individual parts faulty.

You can also try and put a pci graphics card in (if you have one) and see if that works.

Also, you are sure both monitors work correct?

Otherwise I would test the components that floppy suggested, and see if it is a bad piece of hardware.
