I am trying to edit a TV show recorded with WMC. It is in the dvr-ms format,
I want to edit out the commercials. I cannot get the file to display in the
video window so I know when the commercials start and stop - the file is
recorded in dvr-ms from WMC.

I am using Vista Home Premium and WMM 6. I then want to port the movie to
Windows DVD Maker.

I would have thought that a file recorded with WMC would play back in WMM,
why won't it work properly? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Are you getting any errors or what is it doing? I'm still using the beta of
Vista and my dvr-ms files work just fine. If you're interested in a program
that can remove commercials with a click of a button, you should try DVR-MS
Toolbox. It uses a program called ComSkip to remove commercials along with
another one called ShowAnalyzer. During installation, you have the option
to install both. ShowAnalyzer works for only 15 days and then Comskip will
take over. I've heard a lot of issues with ComSkip. Personally I like
ShowAnalyzer and it was only $10 to purchase. Very accurate.

Thanks for the reply, and tips on different editing software. I converted
the dvr-ms file to WMV, and it played in WMM then. For some reason I cannot
get any video play with dvr-ms, strange since it is Microsoft extension
playing on Microsoft software. Maybe I need some codec's?
