No Video

I have read the posts and still have no idea! I import .mpg video from sony
handycam [model: HDD DCRSR80E] using Image mixer [software with cam.] Audio
and video with Image mixer and Windows media player, but only audio in movie
maker preview. Can only drop clip into audio of timeline.

Can someone please help?!!

Sometimes Movie Maker has issues
with MPEG files...have a look at the

Thanks for your help John. I followed papajohn's article and downloaded Vdub
and then the panasonic codec. I managed to convert the .mpg to .avi but
received the following when trying ot open it in WMM:

".....cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not
installed on your computer...."

does the codec need to be installed in a specific location? [please excuse
my lack of technical know how!]

no... but you need to select the video compression option... the Panasonic
codec... before saving as an AVI file.

Thanks for all your help. It is a bit of a long winded process. I wonder how
long it will be before WMM can handle this directly......soon I hope!

I am having this same problem. I ended up downloading a free trial of a
software to convert the mpg file to a wmv, however, there seems to be some
slight quality issues in the converted file. The converted file can then be
edited in Movie Maker. Does anyone have a better solution?
