I have recently installed Movie Maker 2.0, and I was going to try it out with
a video involving a few pictures, and some audio.

When I played it back, the preview window was empty, and the video will not
save, however the audio plays fine.

These arne't video files I'm trying to add - just pictures!

Does anyone know how to stop this?

I assume you're not running Windows XP SP2? Sounds like there might be
something wrong with your MovieMaker installation. Installing Windows XP SP2
certainly might fix the problem.

i have almost the same problem.

using imported video clips i created a time line. all the clips worked fine
individually. but when run in my time line only the audio plays there is no
video at all. please help!

im using movie maker 2 and the files are wmv. i have seen other posts
reccomending codec compatibility changes but i cant seem to find this option

Hi John,
With Movie Maker 2.1 click Tools -> Options -> [Compatibility] tab
The list you see are the codecs. Remove the X from all of them. Close then
open WMM and see if that did the trick. To narrow down which one is causing
problems add them one or two at a time shutdown& restart WMM and see if it
still works.

Hi Wojo,

cheers for the advice, unfortunately i am running version 2 not 2.1 and so
there is no compatibility tab.

Can you advise as to fixing this problem in wmm2 or how to get the newer
version

thankyou.

see the Problem Solving > Crashes and Hangs page of my website... renaming a
codec file gives the same results as using the compatibility tab.
