No user profiles appear on the Welcome Screen
On boot, the welecome screen appear, Turn Off and Restart work fine, but No user profiles for logon.
Press Control+Alt+Delete ~ then my logon name appears but doesn't accept all attempted passwords including blank.
Attempted user name "administrator" with blank or various other passwords - no luck.
F8 - Safe Mode - No profiles, F8 - Safe Mode Command prompts - No profiles.
Called tech support, Removed laptop battery, held reset button down for over a minute, held power on button for over a minute - no change.
Changed boot to CD-ROM, ran "Window XP" OS CD-ROM, selected Repair - no change.
Ran full install of XP from CD rom - of course now it works but most all is lost..

Just before failure: Connected Infocus LCD projector - worked fine, unit went to sleep for an hour. I logged back in then exited normally all the way to Turn Off. Problem occurred on next turn on.

I see this problem alot. All you had to do was do a system restore back to
an hour or day when your accounts were there and they would have come back.
Not sure what causes it.

Boot to safe mode, log in as administrator (if it shows on welcome screen),
run system restore.
