Long story. Tried to ghost an existing c: to a new drive
but I guess XP already recognized the drive and gave it
letter F:. Even after the ghost copy, it referred to the
new disk (which it considers systemroot) as F: and the
old drive as C:. So I get a mish-mash, system updates go
to F: but registry entries stil point to c:.
If I try to boot up without the old drive (C, it gets
to the welcome screen but does not show the list of users
(because it's looking on c:?)
So then I changed the drive letter of C: to G:, hoping
the registry would be changed along with it (foolish, I
know). So now, it boots, but does not show the list of
users. CNTL-ALT-DELTE does nothing.
What's next? Repair? Recovery Console? (and do what?)
Thanks, Gord
