No Updates

It's been 1 week since the last update. Is this the sort
of service we can expect for this product? With so many
problems and issues with MSAS how can MS be so lax. One
week and not one single new spyware\adware\malware
definition added????? I smell a lead in to a "Pay for"
product. Not me. I this isn't free then it's history.
Other software that is for free does a much better job and
updates much more often. Come on MS you're loosing us
here. TTFN.

My installation on Win2K SP4 has a number of issues, one
of which is that the automatic update always "updates" me
to definitions 5678 everty morning :-(

Even after I have manually updated to a later version -
previously 5680 but now 5683 ... ?

Hi Unknown,
Can we agree that this is a BETA product? It's not feature full, nor is it
complete. MS hasn't said pro/con if the product will cost anything.
I always encourage users to use the programs which they are most comfortable
with, and I suggest the same to you.
Good Luck.

Using the Control Panel to update the program makes no
difference :-(

Every day the auto-update will install the 5678
definitions (or so it claims!) and I have to manually
select the "Spyware definitions" option to get the latest
update ...

Adrian - I think you are seeing a display bug, rather than a true failure to
update.

See if I am describing this the way you see it.

Autoupdate runs--it should run every day, but it shouldn't notify you that
it updated every day--more like weekly--there's no set schedule.

On days that it has done an update, it says that it has provided 5678.

If you go to Help, About, you see 5678, and the day and time of the update.
This is the bug--this appearance is wrong. This is known to Microsoft and
being worked on.

If you then go to File, check for updates, it'll go through a checking
cycle--it won't actually do an update--you won't see the additional
information lines that you would see in an actual update, and it'll say yes,
you are on the latest update. You then go back to Help, about, and see the
correct number.

Bug--definitely a bug--but perhaps not the one you thought that it was--I
believe this is a display issue, rather than a complete failure to update.
