i have outlook set up on two pc's with the same user. as it stands right now,
both pc's can receive but not send email. even when one is not open, the
other pc still cannot send email. any ideas on what went wrong?

Internet Mail Only mode or Corporate/Workgroup mode?

Post the exact error message, masking any real address it might contain.
