no themes on computer

i have sp2 installed on my computer i was looking at my dads computer the
other day he said that he just changed the theme. he told me how to get the
themes up, but looking in mine i have none in there. is there something i can
download maybe a patch or anything. I can load free ones off of the internet
but have no pre stored ones does the wp2 come with any? are mine lost ? if i
re install sp2 will i ruin my computer?

please help

Download the free Theme patch from here:

After patching the UXTheme.dll file with the above patch, you can
download free third party themes or visual styles for your XP. Be
sure to read up on the instructions first.

Start | Run <type in>
DESK.CPL
<enter>

Goto the Themes tab and set it up.
If that doesn't work.

Start | Run <type in>
services.msc
<enter>
Double click on themes and make sure it's on, then repeat Desk.cpl.
 
They would be on your XP install CD (it depends if you installed them
initially when installing XP....)

Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components.....etc.
