It was recommended that before downloading the MS03-026
security patch, it is necessary to set up correctly TCP/IP
filtering. In the Advanced TCP/IP Setting Options, only IP
Security, but no TCP/IP Filtering listed on my computer
(Windows 2000 Prosessional). I have downloaded the pacth;
will it work without TCP/IP filtering?

Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards,
Fred

Dear Jack,
Please, attentively look at:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp

and do not ask questions of that kind any more.
I also had a lot of fun with their recommendation Q309798.
How could one interpret this sentence:

"TCP/IP Filtering can filter only inbound traffic. This
feature does not affect outbound traffic or response ports
that are created to accept responses from outbound
requests."

just at the end of the article. It seems to me that it is
not true because in fact it blocks both directions.

It takes a really "bright person from M$" to put a
reference to a recomendation like that (see URL at the
beginning of my message) on M$ home page.

Sincerely,

Y.

I think it will only show on a lan-connection. So if you connect to the
internet via networkcard or server.
