No System Tray

It appears as though I do not have a system tray any longer. Believe it or not, I want it back. I noticed the problem after Windows Update installed the Security Update for Microsoft Data Access Components (KB832483). I've tried to restore to two points but both came back with errors. When I right-click on the Taskbar and go to properties the part about hiding inactive system tray icons is grayed out, so I know theres a problem
