No System Properties When Right-Click My Computer

I just put in a clean installation of a recent copy of XP
Professional and noticed that unlike my other
installations of XP Home and XP Pro, the "System
Properties" box (hardware, device manager, etc.) does not
come up when I right-click "My Computer". I can still
access the box by double-clicking My Computer, and then
View System Information, but find it disconcerting that I
can't seem to check out System Properties in the way I
always have. Is anyone aware of a setting which will
allow me to change this?

Hi, GL.

Until you find another shortcut, you can use my favorite: Win+Break

That is, hold down the Windows logo key while you press Pause/Break. System
Properties should pop right up in your face. ;<)

GL,

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Look in the right pane for a value called NoPropertiesMyComputer. If it exists, it should be set to 0 (zero). If not, double click it and change it to 0. If it doesn't exist, this should be read as 0 by default, but you can create the value anyway by right clicking in the right pane, selecting New, DWord value and naming it NoPropertiesMyComputer. Leave it at 0.
