Hi Martin it's Tricia again , go to sounds and audio in control panel again. Click on the sounds tab. From there you can see what sound scheme if any is there, mine say's " windows default" If you don't have that you will see all the sound"s on that page and you can manually restore it. ( and You should turn on your system restore! I bet I've had to restore at least 5 times. Including today !!!!! But because of it I have everything back. Atleast create a resore point and then turn it off.) Hope this helps you.
