No spell check on outlook express

When I compose a message in outlook express and go
to "tools"- spelling is not available for some reason. I
have XP and I'm new to it so is there something I didn't
do? I'm taking an online class and I really need to have
spell check since my tying is horrible!! Can anyone help
me with what I hope is a simple problem??
 
Spell check is not a feature in Outlook Express. For that, Microsoft says
you need the full blown outlook program.

you need word or another office program installed - if you have office 97
