No sounds of themes

I don't get to hear associated sounds of themes of Windows. Happens as if
"no sounds" is selected. XP no makes sound whenever I minimizes or
maximize the window or when I receive mail, or when I turn off the system.
In control panel \ sounds is selectede Windows default. Anyone know why
this happen?

Any chance you've muted the sound or set the volumn so low you just plain
can't hear it?

No de volume is OK and if I teste de sound in panel control it works
