No sounds after upgrade to XP from Win98

I cannot hear any sounds thru my speakers after upgrade
from Win98 to XP Pro. Any ideas ?
 
HI.....I am having the same problem.....would you be kind enough to pass on the solution if you get help with it!! I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks, Alan

Make sure you have the specific XP drivers for your soundcard - if not,
visit the manufacturer's website and download them. Un-install any W98
drivers you may have left on your system and then reboot and install the new
XP drivers.

Re-post if that doesn't work.

Hello Plectrum,Thanx for the reply regarding the sound problem, The problem is im new to the computer/internet thing and i havent got a clue of where to look and what to do,It would be very kind if you could point me in the right direction with regards to finding the right info or software,thanx for your time.
