No sound

I have no sound and have tried everything to it says that
it is working properly. I bought a new Dell and have
XP. What can I do? I have went to the MFG website and
everything..nothing.

I also envcunter problem of no sound after i've loaded a
new game: HALO
 
As far as i am aware soundcards and thir drivers drivers are out of
existance as such, they now come included in the motherboard
and the windows xp cd should be able to configure it maybe some kind of
virus is screwing things up.
 
Actually, even motherboard based souncards need drivers loaded, especially
newer boards, where XP may not have the proper drivers for them. Your
machine, or motherboard, if it's one built locally, should have a driver
disk with it. Believe me, sound cards are still very much out there, and
really good ones too, such as the SoundBlaster Audigy series of cards.
