no sound

I got a big problem. One day when I tried to go in on the
internet my computer cuoldnt find the ip-adress from my
modem only the computers 169. something plus lots of more
problems with the computer, so I decided to start over
again. I put the disc product and recover cd.rom and
startet over again plus all the other discs. Now thw
internet is working but not the sound, saying that I dont
have one or another compinent(think is called like that)
is using the sound card. Help please...got no sound at
all, what is wrong? please help me.
