No sound

I had to reinstall my windows xp and when I did I realized
that I no longer had sound, but I also realized that my
old windows xp was still available and if I get on that
one (which does not run all my programs) I have all my
sound there. I do not know how to change it or fix it. If
anyone has any idea I would appreciate it thanx Michelle

Right click my Computer and select Manage
Under Services and Applications select Services
Scroll down to Windows Audio and make sure it is set to AUTOMATIC
