The sound device is the sound card and the drivers for it.
The speakers plug into the sound card connections.
Right click on the My Computer icon and select the
properties. Then select Hardware and then the Device
Manager. Find the sound listing and delete the listed
hardware. This sounds strange, but when you reboot the
hardware will be redetected and the proper drivers will be
reinstalled.
You may then need to open the control panel and make sure
that your sound is not muted.
Erased, not ear-rased. And as the other guy said, it is
considered poor form to use all caps when you post a
message.

| I THINK MY BOYFRIEND EARASED OUR SOUND DEVICE HARDWARE. IT
SAYS WE HAVE NO SOUND DEVICE(EVEN THOUGH THE SPEAKERS ARE
PLUGGED IN) AND I AM NOT TO SURE HOW TO CONVINCE IT
OTHERWISE. WE JUST HAVE NORMAL PLUG-ER-IN SPEAKERS SO THERE
SHOULDN'T BE ANY NEW HARDWARE TO ADD, RIGHT?
