After i ran a windows update and one of the updates failed (something about
HD Audio i think) there is no sound on my computer. Can someone please tell
me what to do to get my sound back?

What update? What sound card? What were the previous drivers? Have you
tried doing a driver rollback? Details, details, details.

I dont know what a driver rollback is or what my sound card is. can you tell
me how to find out?

Start>Control Panel>(Classic View)Device Manager>Sound Card should be listed
under Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Double click your Sound Card>Click
Driver, Click Rollback Driver. Reboot. If it doesn't work, go back to the
same place after rebooting and choose Update Driver, then Search
automatically for updated driver software.

it didnt work. It says Realtek HD Audio Mandager Vista error. so what should
i do? should i end the Realtek HD Audio Manager process under 'Ctrl' 'Alt'
'Delete'?

Last resort, follow previous directions to Device Manager and delete Realtek
HD Audio Manager from Device Manager. Reboot, Windows will find your
hardware and start searching for proper drivers.
