Trying to play music previously downloaded, keep getting the following message Driver may be corrupted or missing code(39), What does this mean? and how do I correct?

Jenny.

Do you get the normal Windows sounds from the computer?
Did the music files play originally or have they never played.
Do you know what format the files are in eg MP3, wav etc, and a codec is a bit of software necessary to play files (usually video/music clips).
You may have to reinstall the driver for the sound hardware on the computer, so if you had a cd for the motherboard try re-installing the sound drivers from there.
If you can let us have a bit more info about the machine eg make of motherboard, other people may be able to help you more.

Used to get normal windows sound. Recently download tunes from itunes and limewire, was able to playback my tunes from my music file for a while. Hubby tried to delete limewire from desktop, seemed to have deleted driver for sound!, no sound since. Tried to find out about motherboard can't seem to find info for this, any clues as to where i can find this info. However info i did find was as follows don't know if it will help. Windows XP Home editionService PAck 2. IE version6.0. On control panel, sounds and audio devices, Hardware tab shows following info. SoundMAX Integraged Digital Audio & Samsung CDRW/DVD SM-348B, device status: Windows cannot load this device for this hardware.Driver may be corrupted or missing code 39. Does this help you?

Find the applications CD that came with the motherboard or the computer and re-install the audio files.
