No sound

Since reinstalling windows 2000 I've lost all sound.
Speakers working.
If I troubleshoot on hardware it says
"Multimedia Audio Controller Driver not installed (Code 28)
I followed instructions on wizard to install but still
nothing. Any suggestions?
