No sound, won't recognise speakers?

My computer caught a worm several months ago, its been de-bugged etc the
computer works fine except audio. The speakers are installed properly to the
computer, 'on' light is on but for some reason it won't play any audio what
so ever. The control panel says there is no audio installed, i have gone
through the troubleshot and tried to install it but it won't work. The
messenger keeps saying there is no audio output. Any ideas? really annoying
can't work it out. thanks for any feedback.

You'll need to reinstall your soundcard drivers. You should have a disk that
came with your PC for these drivers or a utility disk. Look for it. If you
do not
have one or can't find it, you'll need to know the manufacturer and go to
their
website to download them, they are free.
