I have a PCWorld purchased computer branded Microstar. Model PCMT5
Type MED MT165 the markings on the motherboard are N1996. I am
running this with XP pro and cannot get any sound from onboard system
XP will not install any drivers. When I got it there was Windows XP
home on it and the sound was fine. Any ideas gratefully received.

The only markings I can see on the board is one chip has SIS 963 on
it. So I guess it is a SIS chipset and the processor is a 2.66 Intel
P4.

Suggest you download Everest from www.lavalys.com. This will tell you
everything you ever wanted to know about your system. Many boards use that
chipset, so just telling us that isn't helpful.
