I can't get any sound since I got a new 80G hd for my hp
pavillion ht856. I have a labtec powered sub with 2
speakers and it is connected correctly. It worked before.
I can't get any sound, be it cd, dvd,my music lib, windows
sounds...etc. I am using the built in sound card on the
mother board. In 'device manager'there are no problems
with the sound devices. Nothing is muted or turned down in
control panel. There is one question mark in 'other
devices'. It says there is no driver for the 'pci simple
communications controller'. I dwnlded 2 drivers from the
hp website( crystalaudiocodecCS4281 and
crystalaudiocodecCS4299) they didn't help. When I was there
(hp site) the 2 audio dwnlds stated that it wasn't
advised to run windows 2000 on an hp pavilion.
Be that as it may...I think everything will be cool if I
can find a steenking driver for this pci simple steenking
controller. I addition to the hp website, I have searched
all of the discs that would be pertinent(win 2000, hp
recovery...I guess that would be both discs then).
If any of this sounds familiar and/or solvable...help!
